More about collaborations

Custom handcrafted ceramic tiles for architecture

I make custom ceramic tiles for architectural projects, restorations of historic houses and natural building projects. Each tile is shaped, glazed and decorated by hand, often drawing on motifs from Modra majolica.

Tiles are suitable for interiors and selected exterior uses, depending on the clay body and firing. I work with architects and clients from Modra, Trenčín, Bratislava and other regions of Slovakia.

  • custom sizes, formats and profiles
  • traditional folk patterns or contemporary designs
  • possibility to include dates, initials or heraldic symbols
  • consultation with your architect when needed

Majolica cladding for traditional tiled stoves

I collaborate with experienced stove-builders to create majolica cladding for tiled stoves, referencing historic stove tiles and medieval stove-making in Slovakia.

Every project is designed individually – from the first sketches to the choice of glazes and the final appearance in your interior, whether it is a country house near Trenčín or a city home in Bratislava.

  • historical patterns reinterpreted for contemporary use
  • possibility to reconstruct original designs
  • work in cooperation with guild stove-builders
  • custom colour schemes and glazes

Bespoke ceramic cup and mug sets

I create small editions of cups, mugs and tableware for special events, wineries, cafés, lifestyle stores and brands that want to work with authentic handmade ceramics.

Each series can carry your logo, event name or a subtle pattern linked to your story. I prefer well-thought-out, limited editions developed in close collaboration with the client.

  • coffee and tea cups, tasting cups and mugs
  • bowls, plates and small serving dishes in a coherent line
  • personalisation options (monograms, dates, logo)
  • ideal for museum shops and themed boutiques

Ceramic collections for museums, galleries and cultural events

I work with museums, galleries and cultural organisations looking for ceramic objects that reflect local tradition – especially Modra folk majolica and western Slovak pottery.

This includes collections for museum shops, educational sets for workshops and limited editions linked to specific exhibitions or festivals across Slovakia.

  • collections inspired by historic Modra motifs
  • educational sets for craft and pottery programmes
  • limited editions for cultural events throughout Slovakia

Master potter trained in Bratislava and Modra

Behind Hlináreň stands a craftsman who has been drawn to clay since childhood. After studying at the School of Applied Arts in Bratislava, he spent several years in an intensive apprenticeship with one of the few remaining masters of traditional Modra and haban majolica.

During roughly five years in the master’s workshop he learned not only the technology of clay and glazes, but also how to work with historic tools, moulds and decoration techniques. He still collaborates with this master on special productions in a Modra factory and on projects for cultural events and historical reconstructions.

Today, Hlináreň is a small workshop in Moravské Lieskové – Brestové, sending ceramic work to clients across Slovakia and beyond.
